  Printing and Copyright

The whole purpose of this site is to let model makers and enthusiasts have photographs that can be magnified to give the detail they require. Nowhere exists that high resolution photographs can be obtained, cheaply, that have no printing restriction.

All the images that are supplied by Steam Photos, on this site, have no restriction on printing as long as the print is used for personal purposes only and that no financial gain in made in the process. Most high street photographic developers accept digital images from disc and will convert them to photographic prints. We therefore have put a written clause on the disc cover that clears the owner for reproduction in print form for single copies. Model making societies can purchase discs and print copies for their members but again only for free.

We believe that the image resolution supplied, often over 6Mbytes pixels in size, is sufficient to create up to A3 size prints. Therefore poster sized photo’s are possible and we even have a poster supply service if you cannot find one locally.

If it is desired to further publish the images, magazines or books for instance, then an application can be made to Steam Photos, via email, and a fee negotiated as ultimately Steam Photos hold the copyright on all images supplied.

The name of the game is enjoyment of the images. All too often such material is locked up in private collections with vigorous copyrights applied.

Our one major rule is that we do not allow the images to be published on the World Wide Web. This is because the revenue that we derive from the discs is what enables us to pay for the site without banner advertisements and continue to provide more material for the model enthusiasts and collectors. Web circulation would short circuit the facility we offer.

The future of this site is in your hands, so please tell your friends and societies about us.

Enjoy the images and stick to the rules and we will all benefit by it.
